The local area

Founded by missionaries in the middle of the 7th century, Christchurch is a lovely little town that sits between the Avon and Stroud rivers. It has long been a magnet for tourists thanks to the pretty harbour, local beaches, nature reserves and historical value of the area, with all this also leading to a thriving property market.

The location of Christchurch on the south coast sees the town close to Bournemouth and Southampton, with a train to the former taking just over 5 minutes and to the latter less than an hour. The M27 motorway, which leads on to the M3, can be picked up at Southampton, linking Christchurch to the national road network. Bournemouth’s international airport meanwhile lies just a few miles out of town.

There is a good range of schools in the local area for families with children to consider, including Mudeford, Highcliffe St Mark and Sopley at primary level. Secondary options include Twynham School, Highcliffe School and the Grange School on Redvers Road, while Bournemouth university is a relative stone’s throw away.
