Essential info

The local authority responsible for properties is Newquay Town Council

The local area

With such incredible natural beauty including sandy beaches, inviting seas and sweeping countryside, it’s little wonder Newquay is a popular tourist spot. With holidaymakers flocking to enjoy the town and its surroundings, there’s still plenty to keep residents occupied too, whether you like to surf some waves, paddle in the shallows or hike along the picturesque coastline.

Due to its position on the southwest coast, Newquay doesn’t have the best links when it comes to public transport. The town does have its own train station, but even local journeys can take quite a long time. Bodmin is only 20 miles away but it takes over an hour to get there from Newquay, while it’s an hour and a half to Truro which is just 12 miles to the south. If you want to get to London, it’s upwards of five hours. A network of A roads connects this part of Cornwall, linking Newquay with Falmouth, St. Ives and Redruth, with the closest motorway found at Exeter some 80 miles away.

The town does have a very highly rated primary school, Newquay Junior Academy which caters for children aged between seven and 11. The Bishops’ CofE is another option, while St Columb Minor Academy and Cubert School are just out of town. There are two secondary schools to choose between, Newquay Thretherras and Treviglas College, which is a specialist Business and Enterprise College.
