The local area

Billericay has long been occupied by humans, with archaeological evidence found in the area dating back to the Bronze Age and Iron Age. There’s plenty of history to discover in Billericay, which nearly had its High Street destroyed by a German Zeppelin airship when it was shot down during World War One. These days Billericay is a lovely place to live, offering its residents great access to London.

Billericay is less than 30 miles outside of central London, and it’s possible to reach the capital’s Liverpool Street station in just over half an hour by train. The town’s served by a network of A roads which connect it to neighbouring spots such as Basildon and Brentwood, as well as the M25 motorway which is less than 20 minutes away by car. Stansted Airport’s only around 50 minutes away by road, while it’s another ten minutes to Gatwick.

There’s a selection of very good schools in the area for families with children to take their pick from. Options at primary level include Sunnymeade Junior School, Quilters Junior School and Buttsbury Junior School on Norsey View Drive. The Billericay School on School Road and Mayflower High School are the choices for children of secondary age.
