The local area
For a relatively small town, Grantham has plenty of history. Grantham is famous for being the birthplace of Margaret Thatcher, while Isaac Newton went to school in the town. It also produced the first running diesel engine in 1892, and the UK’s first tractor a few years later.
Grantham has its own railway station on the London to Edinburgh East Coast Main Line, with services to the English capital taking around 70 minutes. Lincoln is around 25 miles away and can be reached in around 50 minutes. The A1 road passes to the west of Grantham, heading south to become the A1(M) as it makes its way to London via Peterborough.
The modern town has plenty of amenities for its residents to take advantage of, as well as a good selection of schools. Isaac Newton was taught at The King’s Grammar School, which is still open to this day. Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School and The West Grantham Academy St Hugh’s are other secondary options, while primary choices include Barrowby CofE, Allington with Sedgebrook CofE and Cliffedale Primary.
