The local area
Bingley is thought to have been founded in Saxon times by a ford on the River Aire. It became a market town back in 1212, but it wasn’t until the completion of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and the Industrial Revolution that Bingley really increased in size. The modern town has plenty of amenities, as well as some lovely green spaces such as Baildon Moor in the local area.
The town has its own railway station, which provides services to Bradford that take less than 20 minutes, and to Leeds which is only a few minutes more. The nearest motorway is the M606 to the south of Bradford, which links up to the M62, while Bingley is less than 12 miles away from Leeds Bradford Airport. It’s also a fairly short drive on to other local towns such as Pudsey, Halifax and Morley.
If you’re looking for good schools there are some excellent ones to choose from in the area, including Myrtle Park Primary. St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary on Crownest Road is another highly rated school, while Trinity All Saints CofE and Eldwick Primary are among the other options. Beckfoot School and Bingley Grammar on Keighley Road are the choices at secondary level.
