The local authority responsible for properties is Kirklees Council

The local area

Batley has plenty of green spaces in the vicinity and benefits from a close proximity to larger neighbours Leeds and Bradford; the former is around 7 miles to the northeast and the latter a similar distance to the northwest. Dewsbury meanwhile lies just to the south, and it’s fairly easy to drive on to Morley, Wakefield and Pudsey.

Transport links to these places are good, with trains to Leeds taking less than 20 minutes and services to Dewsbury taking just a few minutes. To get to Bradford though you’ll need to change in Leeds, making the journey closer to an hour. The M62 motorway passes to the north of town, which links Batley to cities such as Hull in the east and Manchester and Liverpool in the west. Leeds Bradford Airport is a 16 mile journey by road.

There are some very good schools in the local area for families with children to consider, including Field Lane Junior Infant and Nursery School, Batley CofE on Stocks Lane and St Patrick’s Catholic Primary in Birstall. Batley Girls’ High School, Batley Grammar School and Fairfield School on White Lee Road are among the secondary options. The University of Leeds meanwhile is just a short train journey away.
