The local area

Tamworth lays claim to a long history that dates back to Roman times, while the 11th century Tamworth Castle remains a popular attraction in the area to this day. The town experienced rapid growth during the Industrial Revolution thanks to the coal mines found in the vicinity, while Tamworth’s main modern industries include logistics, engineering, brick, tile and paper manufacture.

The town benefits from a strong location within the UK, less than 15 miles from the centre of Birmingham and around 100 miles from London. The M42 motorway passes to the east of Tamworth and the M6 lies to the west, opening up the national motorway network to the town. A good main road network means it’s easy to get to local towns like Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield and Walsall. Birmingham New Street railway station can be reached in approximately 15 minutes, while it can take just over an hour to reach the capital’s Euston station.

There are a number of good schools in the area for parents with children to consider, including St Andrew’s C of E, Florendine and Millfield in Fazeley at primary level. The Polesworth School and Two Rivers High School are at opposite ends of the size scale when it comes to secondary options, while Landau Forte Academy in Amington is another option.
