The local area
Hereford is cathedral city close to England’s border with Wales. One of Hereford’s major selling points is the beautiful countryside that wraps the city up into its Herefordshire setting, a rural county. The centre of Hereford offers plenty of modern amenities, while retaining the characterful feel of an old market town.
Thanks to its location in a rural county, Hereford’s transport links are not brilliant. The closest motorway is the M50 that heads to the M5 near Tewkesbury, which in turn heads north to Birmingham and south to Bristol and Exeter. There are plenty of A roads, such as the lengthy A49, which starts at Ross-on-Wye and goes north through Shropshire and Cheshire. Hereford has a railway station on the Welsh Marches Line that offers regular connections to London, Manchester and Cardiff.
Hereford has some excellent schools in the area that will please parents looking to move to the city, including Marlbrook Primary, Mordiford CofE, and School Lane’s Staunton-on-Wye Endowed Primary for younger children. Secondary options include Weobley High, Fairfield High and Brookfield School on Grandstand Road.
