The local area
A coastal town in Cornwall, Falmouth features scenic beauty, picturesque harbours and maritime history. It’s a popular tourist destination, and it remains a bustling seaside resort to this day.
Due to its far flung location on the English southwest coast, Falmouth doesn’t have the best transport links when it comes to getting to other parts of the country. A network of A roads including the A39 and A394 can be used to reach other spots in the local area such as St. Ives, Redruth and Truro, while the nearest motorway is some two hours away in Exeter. Falmouth has one of the deepest natural harbours in the world, and there are ferries to spots such as St Mawes.
If you’re looking to send your children to school, there are a number of primary choices and one secondary option in town. Falmouth School is on Trescobeas Road to the northwest of town, and is a coeducational secondary school with a sixth form and academy status. Primary schools include St Mary’s, St Francis, Constantine and Marlborough School, while Falmouth University has a campus in town as well as in neighbouring Penryn.
