The local area

With a long history that includes the presence of an ancient Celtic tribe, Walton was the place where Julius Caesar forded the River Thames on his second invasion of Britain. Recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Waletona, the modern town is a hugely popular place to live. An outer suburb of London, it has plenty of amenities to take advantage of, as well as green spaces like Apple Court Green.

Located just 15 miles to the west of Charing Cross, trains from Walton’s station take just half an hour to reach London Waterloo, making it perfect for the daily to commute to the capital. The town is just inside the southwest boundary of the M25, while the M3 also passes close by. It’s also a short drive to nearby towns such as Staines, Surbiton and Hounslow. When it’s time to go on holiday, Heathrow Airport is just seven miles away.

There are some highly rated schools in the area for families with children to take into consideration, with primary options including Ashley CofE, Cardinal Newman Catholic Primary and Walton Oak Primary. The nearest secondary schools are in places like Feltham and Surbiton, with some of the best in the local area including Rivers Academy West London, The Heathland School and the two Tiffin schools in Kingston upon Thames. For higher education, London’s universities are just a short train ride away.
