The local area

Redhill was formed with the name Warwick Town when a turnpike road was built in the area in 1818. Just to the south of Croydon, Redhill sits along the London-Brighton road within the English capital’s commuter belt. It has a pedestrianised High Street and a shopping centre, as well as a street market that’s held three times a week. If you like spending time in the countryside, the Surrey Hills are just a short distance away.

It’s the access to London which makes Redhill such a great place to live for people looking to commute to the city, and there are trains to the capital’s Victoria and Blackfriars stations which take less than 40 minutes. The M23 and M25 motorways aren’t far from town, while Redhill is ideally placed for getting to Gatwick Airport. Just six miles to the south, there are trains which take just over five minutes to get to the airport. It’s also a fairly short drive to nearby towns like Reigate, Epsom and Crawley.

Families with children have plenty of schools to choose between in the local area, including St Joseph’s RC Primary, St Matthew’s CofE and Wray Common Primary. For older pupils, St Bede’s School, Woodfield School and St Nicholas School are among the options at secondary level, while East Surrey College provides further education for students aged 16 and over.
