Runcorn was actually a popular health resort in the late 18th and early 19th century, although it was the Industrial Revolution that brought significant growth to the area. Large amounts of construction and redevelopment since the 1960s – including plenty of new housing – has seen the population of Runcorn almost treble. The town offers a great location just over 15 miles miles from Liverpool, while Warrington is is less than 10 miles away.
