The A684 road heads east to the M6 motorway, providing access to Carlisle and Scotland in the north, and Lancaster, Preston and Birmingham to the south.
There are some excellent schools in the area for families with children to take into consideration, including St Thomas CofE, Castle Park School and Vicarage Park CofE at primary level. The Queen Katherine School and Kirkbie Kendal School are the secondary options, while Kendal College provides further education for students aged 16 and above.
