The local area

Bebington has a history that is important within English history, being as it was the site of the Battle of Brunanburh in the year 937. The modern town, which lies on the south bank of the River Mersey to the south of Birkenhead, has one of the most desirable postcodes in the country according to a 2015 study that was commissioned by Royal Mail. This was based on Bebington’s strength when it came to employment rates, availability of housing close to places of work and good schools in the area.

Bebington is conveniently located close to Liverpool, which is just a short journey through the Birkenhead Tunnel; trains to Liverpool Central take less than 20 minutes. Local towns such as Bromborough and Wallasey are fairly easy to drive to. The A41 passes to the east of town close to the Mersey, while the M53 runs to the west, heading south towards Chester, which can be reached in around 25 minutes by train. Liverpool John Lennon Airport is less than 15 miles away by road.

Among the impressive schools in Bebington are Brackenwood Junior School, Stanton Road Primary School, St Andrew’s Primary School and Higher Bebington Primary School on Mill Road. Options in the area for children of secondary age include Bebington High Sports College, Wirral Grammar School for Boys on Cross Lane and Heath Road’s Wirral Grammar School for Girls.
