The A1 road is around 20 minutes from town, with a journey to Sunderland taking around half an hour and Durham 40 minutes. Newcastle Airport lies less than 15 miles away by road; a trip that can be done in around 45 minutes with the Metro. Other local towns like Morpeth, Washington and Gateshead are fairly easy to get to.
There are some excellent schools in the area for families with children to contemplate, with primary options including Percy Park Road’s Priory Primary, St Mary’s Roman Catholic Primary and Waterville Primary. Choices at secondary level include John Spence Community High and Marden High, while nearby Whitley Bay High School is also highly rated. Newcastle University is a great option for higher education, found just a short Metro ride away from Tynemouth.
