Essential info

The local authority responsible for properties is High Peak Borough Council

The local area

As a spa town surrounded by picturesque countryside, built around the River Wye, Buxton benefits from being on the doorstep of the beautiful Peak District. This makes Buxton a perfect location for relaxing walks, while local attractions such as Poole’s Cavern are great for exploring.

Due to its rural setting, there aren’t any motorways close to Buxton. A network of A roads connects the town to other parts of the local area such as Macclesfield, and on towards the county town of Derby, while other towns such as Alfreton, Matlock and Chesterfield are easily reached, as are the M6 and M60 motorways which circles around Manchester. The other side of the Peak District is the M1, while Buxton has its own train station which can be used to get to places such as Manchester, which can be reached in an hour with a direct service.

There are some excellent schools in the local area which will please parents with young children. Buxton Junior School is right in town, while Litton CofE is a very highly rated primary school around 20 minutes away by car. If you’re in need of a secondary school, Buxton Community School and St. Thomas More Catholic School are among the options.
